Meet Kelly Roe

Hi, my name is Kelly Roe, and I am the head coach of Prairie View Gymnastics Club.

Twelve years ago, Shanna Turnbull and I started the club with a simple idea: to introduce gymnastics to our community so children could exercise, have fun, and learn something new.

That little idea quickly grew into an incredible adventure. We went from offering recreational gymnastics without any equipment to creating a fully equipped facility with successful recreational programs and provincial-level competitive gymnasts.

Today, Prairie View Gymnastics Club supports children and families from seven or eight surrounding communities. I am incredibly proud of how much our club has grown and of the opportunities it provides to young athletes throughout our rural area.

We also have an incredible coaching staff. Laura Bickerton was the first coach to join us, and she has been an important part of our club’s journey. Over the years, many of our former competitive gymnasts have returned to join our coaching staff after retiring from competition.

It is very special to see athletes who grew up in our program become coaches, role models, and mentors for the next generation. This has allowed our club to continue building leadership while giving back to our community.

I was a high-level competitive gymnast when I was younger, and this year marks my twentieth year of coaching gymnastics.

Coaching is about much more than teaching skills. It means guiding athletes through hard work, challenges, successes, disappointments, and everything in between. It means listening, encouraging, supporting, and being a positive role model through both the highs and the lows.

I truly love gymnastics and working with children. It is an honour to watch our athletes grow into incredible gymnasts and, even more importantly, incredible people.

I feel very fortunate to share my passion for the sport while helping young people develop confidence, perseverance, strength, leadership, and a belief in themselves.

Meet Laura Bickerton

Laura has been a dedicated coach with Prairie View Gymnastics for 12 years, bringing experience, passion, and a strong commitment to athlete development to every practice.

Throughout her coaching career, her favourite part of the sport has been witnessing each athlete's journey, from learning new skills and building confidence to overcoming challenges and achieving personal goals.

While Laura primarily coaches athletes in Level 4 and above, she values connections with gymnasts of all ages and stages. She believes that strong relationships are the foundation of success and enjoys getting to know younger athletes as they begin their gymnastics journey, watching them grow into confident and capable competitors.

The uneven bars are Laura's specialty and favourite event. With years of experience and a deep understanding of bar technique, she loves helping athletes break down complex skills, develop strength and confidence, and reach new milestones in their training.

Laura also values the strong coaching partnership she has built over the years with fellow coach Kelly. Together, they combine experience, collaboration, and a shared passion for helping athletes succeed both inside and outside the gym.

For Laura, coaching is about much more than gymnastics. It is about inspiring confidence, celebrating accomplishments big and small, and having the privilege of helping young athletes become the best versions of themselves.

Meet Zoey Jebb

Zoey has been coaching gymnastics for 12+ years and brings a passion for recreation, fitness, and working with children to every practice. Her experience working with kids through recreation, fitness, and youth programming has helped shape her positive, encouraging approach to coaching.

What Zoey loves most about recreational gymnastics is giving kids a place to move, learn, play and discover what their bodies can do. She believes gymnastics should be a place where kids can have fun, try new things, build confidence, and feel proud of what they are capable of.

Her coaching style is all about meeting kids where they’re at. Some kids are working toward their first cartwheel, some are learning to trust themselves upside down, and others are determined to finally land that skill they’ve been practicing for weeks. Every one of those moments is worth celebrating!

Zoey believes that every child progresses at their own pace and that the small moments can be just as important as the big accomplishments. She enjoys encouraging athletes through challenges, celebrating their progress, and helping them discover that they are capable of more than they may have thought.

For Zoey, coaching is about creating a positive environment where kids feel supported, encouraged, and excited to come back each week. She loves being part of those early gymnastics experiences and watching young athletes grow in confidence, strength, coordination, and a belief in themselves.
